Covenant Classical School

Board of Directors


The direction and management of the affairs of the School, and the control and disposition of its properties and funds is vested in the Board of Directors. The Board has delegated the general charge and supervision of the business, property and affairs of the School to the Head of School, who functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the School. Under the ultimate direction of the Board, the Head of School sees that all policies, orders and resolutions of the Board are carried into effect. The Board carries out all relationships with the school employees through the Head of School.


Ben Cowan

Chair/Parent

Ben Cowan is a CFA Charterholder who graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, he was an investment banking analyst at Bear Stearns and vice president at Luther King Capital Management before founding Brushy Creek Capital. He and his wife, Esther, have two daughters who are students at Covenant.


Laura Jageman

Secretary/Parent

Laura Jageman holds a bachelor’s degree in French and Growth and Structure of Cities from Haverford College and an MBA from Rice University. She previously worked as a plant controller and in commercial management for FMC Technologies in Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Hamburg. She served as a children’s leader in Bible Study Fellowship for 10 years. Laura and her husband, Roy, have two daughters: a Covenant alumna and an Upper School student.


Will Pickett

Treasurer/Parent

Will Pickett earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is self-employed, providing part-time and interim CFO services to small and mid-market privately held companies. He and his wife, Caty, have three children who all attend Covenant.


Caryn Barber

Member/Parent

Caryn Barber graduated from TCU with a BBA in Finance/Real Estate. She began her career in the banking industry before moving into roles in event planning and alumni relations. She and her husband Mike have three children, including two current students and one graduate. Over the last 14 years, Caryn has been an active CCS volunteer and has led Moms in Prayer. She actively serves her church as a mentor, member of the Parent Board, and as a small group leader for freshman girls.


Doug Briley

Member/Parent

Doug Briley holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Michigan State University. After starting his career in marketing at Mrs. Baird’s Bakeries, he started his own advertising agency in 1998. Mr. Briley is an accomplished pianist and composer, serves as a deacon in his church, and enjoys living in Fort Worth with his wife and family. Two of his children are Covenant graduates, and two are currently in the CCS Upper School.


David Capper, M.D.

Member/Parent

David Capper received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Austin College. He went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Dr. Capper is now the Executive Director of Covenant Hospice and Palliative Care in Fort Worth and employed by Consultants in Cardiology – THPG. He is also the co-founder and medical director of Christian Community Health Services, a charitable clinic outreach in Fort Worth, as well as the physician overseer of the Homeless Outreach for John Peter Smith Hospital. He also serves as the Medical Director for Trina Health of North Texas. He and his wife, Dianne, have six grown children.


Brooks Danley

Member/Parent

Brooks Danley earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from New Mexico State University. He worked as a product and process development engineer and a manager as chief engineer in the automotive industry for 14 years. Upon moving to Fort Worth, he became licensed in the financial field and is currently a financial advisor with Danley and Associates. He and his wife Andrea have two children who attend Covenant.


Christian Ellis

Member/Parent

Christian Ellis earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from Texas Christian University and a Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law. He is a founding partner at Bonds, Ellis, Eppich, Schafer, Jones LLP, in Fort Worth. He and his wife, Elise, have two sons who are students at Covenant.


Darren Keyes

Member/Parent

Darren Keyes earned bachelor’s degrees from Abilene Christian University in political communication and international business and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University. He is a partner at Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP and practices transactional law with a focus on real estate and construction. Four of his school-aged children attend Covenant.


Chris Taylor

Member/Parent

Chris Taylor received a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington. He manages a commercial real estate investment company and owns his own brokerage. He and his wife, Sawyer, helped to plant a church in Fort Worth where he has served as a pastor for over a decade. They have three children currently enrolled at Covenant.
