Eric Cook

Head of School

Eric Cook is from Lexington, Kentucky, and worked in schools in Ohio and Virginia before joining Covenant Classical School in 2009. Eric earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Transylvania University, and a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Northern Kentucky University. He has taught history, political science, psychology and philosophy in public schools, and served as an assistant principal for several years. In 2006, Eric felt called to join the classical Christian school movement and became the Middle and Upper School Head at Faith Christian School in Roanoke, Virginia. In addition to his leadership roles, Eric taught apologetics, theology, philosophy of religion, and served as thesis director.

Eric serves as the Executive Director for the Society for Classical Learning. The Society is a national organization that exists to “foster human flourishing by making classical Christian education thrive.” Eric is excited about the work God is doing among classical Christian schools across the country and is honored to serve the movement. He speaks and writes about classical Christian education in a variety of contexts, but is most honored to lead a growing and thriving K-12 school in Fort Worth.

Eric is a voracious reader and a true lifelong learner, with special interest in the areas of philosophy, theology, education and history. He is a passionate educator who enjoys golf and a good cup of coffee. Eric and his wife, Liz, have six children: Haydon, Olivia, Grant, Cole, William and Lincoln.

Brent Stevens
UPPER SCHOOL HEAD & HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Brent Stevens is from Portland, Oregon, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from The College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a master’s degree in Classical Education at The University of Dallas. During his time at Covenant, Brent has had the opportunity to teach Latin, history, and literature, as well as chair the Humanities department.

Brent enjoys attending academic conferences as both a participant and a seminar leader. He has had the opportunity to present at the SCL annual conferences as well as the Pew Society’s annual Paideia. Brent is excited to be a part of the Christian classical education movement and is passionate about cultivating its growth and impact on society.

Brent and his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Isaac, Liam and Norah, enjoy spending time together outdoors, working on various home improvement projects, and exploring Fort Worth.

Dennis Doty
GRAMMAR SCHOOL HEAD

Dennis Doty is from Houston, TX, but worked in schools in Houston, Louisville and Toronto before joining Covenant in 2020. Dennis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master’s degree in Leadership from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

In 2014, Dennis and his family moved to Toronto to help start a Christian classical school, which became the second Protestant classical school in all of Canada. He helped resource, train and start four other classical schools in Ontario and has been an encourager and consultant of the classical movement throughout Canada.

Dennis loves reading topics in historical fiction, biographies, leadership, education and theology. He enjoys triathlons, golf and early mornings. Dennis and his wife, Alecia, have four children.

Amanda Stephens

ASSISTANT GRAMMAR SCHOOL HEAD

Amanda Stephens is from Fort Worth and taught Kindergarten and Second Grade before moving into administration. Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in History with Presidential Honors from John Brown University and her Master of Education in Teaching and Learning Practices from LeTourneau University.  While in college, Amanda studied abroad in Northern Ireland and Italy, participated in the honors program, and sang in a university choral program.

Amanda hopes to be an encouraging presence to families and students, to provide clear communication, and to continue pursuing and enriching the Christ-centered culture at Covenant.  She enjoys leading teachers in professional development and instructional reforms, partnering with parents to build community and discipling students. 

Amanda enjoys traveling, reading, trying new restaurants, and sharing a good cup of coffee. Amanda and her husband, Ryan, enjoy spending time with their sweet young daughter!

Andrew Elizalde
ACADEMIC DEAN & MATH/SCIENCE DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Andrew Elizalde earned his B.A. at Depauw University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, earned a math major, physics minor, and religious studies minor, and received the H.E.H. Greenleaf award as the most outstanding 2001 graduate of the school’s mathematics program. He later obtained a teaching credential from California State University Long Beach with a professional-clear qualification for his coursework regarding exceptional children and technology integration. His teaching experience includes work in both public and private schools.

His past work in classical education has most notably included reforming mathematics programs and building professional learning communities through meaningful professional development. Additionally, Andrew also offers consulting services to classical Christian schools and has been a keynote speaker at both the ICS Math and Science Lyceum and SCL annual conferences.

Andrew and his wife Brooke have three daughters and attend Fort Worth Presbyterian Church.

Hallie Williams

director of student support

Hallie Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Tarleton State University where she received Phi Eta Sigma and Delta Mu Delta honors and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Hallie has over a decade of experience in the area of support services, as a teacher and in the administrative role. She formally served as a specialist in special education in a large urban district where she coached general and special education teachers in best instructional practices to meet the unique needs of their student population. She has served in the role of math specialist and has taught a variety of special education classes, English Language Arts, history, business and technology courses.

The Lord led Hallie and her family to join Covenant as Director of Student Support in the summer of 2016. Hallie’s husband is the lead pastor at Solid Rock Church in Fort Worth where they have served since 2003. They have two boys, Hudson and Calvin, who attend Covenant.

Anna Nave

Anna earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist and Academic Language Practitioner. She practiced at The University of Texas Medical Branch and Cook Children’s Medical Center before coming to Covenant in 2018. She loves spending her days getting to know our Grammar School students and families and hopes to use her background in child development to help each student thrive. She and her husband Shannon have two sons who attend Covenant. 

Andrea Deale

Andrea Deale graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Christian University, where she earned a degree in Journalism with an Advertising/Public Relations emphasis. She loves working alongside her fellow Advancement team members to serve the Covenant community. Andrea is passionate about meeting our school’s families, working on projects that improve the campus and helping to connect students and parents to the Covenant community. She and her husband, Gabe, have two daughters who attend Covenant.

Lana Kennedy

DEVELOPMENT direcTOR

Lana Kennedy is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She has worked in the non-profit world for several years, and enjoys developing meaningful relationships and connecting with our Covenant families. Lana and her husband, Jared, live in Aledo and have three children at CCS. They are longtime members of Parker County Cowboy Church and teach Sunday School there. Lana loves spending time outdoors, canning homemade jams and jellies and shopping at garage sales and antique shops. She delights in digging into God’s Word and is awestruck by the beauty and wonder of the Lord’s grace and faithfulness.

Lana Fields attended the University of North Texas where she earned a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Political Science. Lana has served in several volunteer positions at Covenant and in the women’s ministry at her church. She and her husband, Aaron, have three children: Harper, Harrison, and Henry. Lana and her family are so thankful for Covenant and the authentic Christian community it provides.

Bill Clifton

Director of facilities

Bill is a graduate of Texas Tech University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Interdisciplinary Studies. He worked in advertising for 16 years, then joined Brants Realtors in 2011. He joined the Covenant administrative team in 2013. Bill and his wife, Nicole, have four children who attend Covenant.

Aimee Sapp

Aimee was born in Alabama, but as a self-proclaimed “Air Force Brat,” she didn’t take root until landing in Fort Worth in 1989. Aimee graduated from National University with a BBA in accounting. She began her career at Covenant in 2015 as the Development Assistant and now serves as Finance Coordinator. Aimee and her husband, Rick have five children, three daughters and two sons. Austin graduated from Covenant in 2017 and their youngest, Joshua is currently a junior. On Friday nights in the fall, you can find the Sapp family cheering on the football team – Aimee from the stands and Rick as the announcer. Aimee enjoys spending time with her family and friends and working out. 

Stephanie Watson

Stephanie Watson has served in administration for several non-profits and ministries, including the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, the North American Mission Board and Christ Chapel Bible Church. A native to Fort Worth, she is married to Zane and they have two children, Jack and Lucy, who are both students at Covenant. They are thrilled to be in an educational environment where Christ is preeminent. Stephanie enjoys time with her family, running, reading and traveling.

Tristan Hurley

Originally from Atlanta, Tristan Hurley moved to Fort Worth after graduating with his bachelor’s in Religion from Liberty Univerity. Tristan has since earned his M.Div and PhD, both in Missions from Southwestern Seminary. Before coming to Covenant, Dr. Hurley served in multiple roles on the campus of Southwestern Seminary, including Adjunct Professor. Dr. Hurley enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, any beach and cooking on the grill.

Jeremy Martin

Jeremy Martin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in History with an Education minor. He earned a USATF Level II certification, along with his Certified Athletic Administrator certificate, from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He is working toward a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Grace College.

Jeremy has served in the athletic department for classical Christian schools for more than 10 years, spending the last two years as the athletic director of a classical Christian school in Tennessee. He has been part of multiple TAPPS state championship teams in football, basketball and track & field events.

Jeremy and his bride, Lindsay, have three boys (Knox, Noah and Luke) who attend Covenant.
