The purpose of the Athletic program at Covenant is to equip Cavalier student-athletes for their lives beyond the field, gym, and court while encouraging, preparing, and pushing them toward individual and team goals. Teamwork is a beautiful way to encourage the individual to be involved with the whole. The purpose of all games is to win, out-play, and out-strategize – with more heart and more practice than the other team. Alternatively, the purpose of sports is not the trophy at the end of the season or the glory after a victory. We believe that athletics excellence is expressed through character, commitment, and community. The discipline instilled teaches us to grow in character, rely on others, and work as a team to accomplish our goals.
Covenant also has a long history of student participation in parent-coached recreational teams. Young students benefit from playing together from a young age to learn the rules of the game, build skills, develop teamwork and prepare for future competition. Our school also encourages participation in school-hosted skills workshops with the aim of preparing aspiring student-athletes for competition.
