Join us to learn the basics of slow sewing with traditional stitches and techniques. Together, we will explore types of hand-stitching and the history of this timeless art. By the end of the week, students will have learned or honed this important life skill, and will have created a stitch book and personalized creation to take home!

Artists, voyage with us to the lands of Asia! We will learn about Japanese, Chinese, and Korean art. We will create Japanese paper fans, terracotta warriors, and sweet pandas. We will paint vases, arrange papers into Kimono collage dolls, and learn about awesome artists like Hokusai. Dragons, costumes, and swords of the ancient armies will inspire beauty as we climb the Great Wall of China and beyond to Korea and the Sea of Japan. Get your passport ready! Through interactive lessons and practical exercises, we’ll explore how to thoughtfully engage with biblical texts and communicate truths effectively to build up the Body of Christ. By the end of the camp, students will feel equipped and confident to teach the Bible in a way that honors God and encourages others.

Campers will get their hands dirty as they experience the sometimes explosive, sometimes loud, and sometimes disgusting world of scientific exploration! Participants will, in closely supervised groups, perform daily experiments using materials and methods common in the professional scientist's world. They will walk away with a new perspective on creation as well as a better understanding of common lab procedures and practices that will definitely come in handy as they make their way through our Upper School Science program. (They will also walk away with all of their fingers and toes!)

Latin Academy provides an efficient and individually student-tailored opportunity to integrate incoming students into our school's Latin program. It also offers current students a chance to review during the summer.
