Summer Reading & Mathematics Practice
Each summer, Covenant students are required to participate in the summer reading program. The purpose of the program is to augment the curriculum, expose students to quality literature, and cultivate a love of reading. The school supplies students with all required summer reading, and asks students to choose from our list of additional recommended titles, as well. The full list of required and recommended titles is included below, and includes the ISBN of recommended editions.
Incoming Upper School students are also required to complete a summer reading assignment that will be due on Monday, August 25. This provides accountability for all students, directs them toward particular themes, helps them articulate their own comprehension, and maintain the skills of independent reading, annotation, and writing. Summer is also a great time to sharpen your child’s mathematical abilities and gain fluency with math facts. The optional workbooks suggested below contain the most valuable grade-level objectives and are made to develop deep mathematical thinkers. Looking for answer keys?
